How to Apply — Step by Step

1
Choose Free Zone

Insider Tips & Important Rules

🏦 Open a UAE Bank Account

With your freelance permit and Emirates ID, you can open a UAE bank account (Emirates NBD, Mashreq, RAKBANK). Required to receive client payments legally in UAE dirhams.

📄 Issue Official Invoices

Your freelance permit number acts as your trade license. You can issue VAT-registered invoices to UAE clients and sign formal contracts with companies and agencies.

💼 Work for Multiple Clients

Unlike an employment visa (tied to one sponsor), a freelance visa allows you to work for multiple clients and companies simultaneously — locally and internationally.

🔄 Renew Every 2 Years

Freelance permit and visa both renewed together. Start renewal 30 days before expiry. Annual permit renewal fees are the same as the initial cost — budget AED 7,500–12,000/year.

👨‍👩‍👧 Sponsor Your Family

Once you have a freelance residence visa and meet the income threshold (AED 10,000+/month recommended), you can sponsor your spouse and children on your freelance visa.

🚫 VAT Registration

If your annual revenue exceeds AED 375,000, you must register for VAT with FTA. Below AED 187,500 is exempt. Between these amounts, registration is voluntary.
